Otisco Lake Community Association
Originally organized as "Otisco Lake Civic League" in September 1931, the
Otisco Lake Community Association thereafter evolved and was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization to benefit the community and the residents for Otisco Lake and its neighbors in 1955. Otisco Lake Community Association (O.L.C.A.) has been servicing
the Otisco Lake Community continuously since then, and holds its
meetings, activities, picnics, and events at the old schoolhouse across the street
from the Firehouse on Amber Road in Amber.
Many years of toil and struggle aided by countless volunteers proved to be a successful outreach by the Association. A summer recreation program consisting of swim, boat safety classes, summer recreation for six weeks, and somewhat modified, still continues today.
In 1999, an Onondaga County Community Development grant was awarded tot he Association to renovate the old schoolhouse into a year round building. The renovation provided the Association with the opportunity to service the Otisco Lake Community year-round, with Senior Lunch Programs sponsored by PEACE, many workshop programs, Santa's Breakfasts, Halloween Parties, summer recreation programs for the youngsters, Support Group Meetings, as well as individual rentals for parties and gatherings. Recently, a new roof was added to the building through the great financial help that was donated by our devoted members and community neighbors.
We are dedicated to the wellness of our Community, our Lake, our youth, our elderly citizens, and to all summer residents of Otisco Lake. We have been
blessed with many wonderful volunteers over over all the years and up to the present, but we would welcome more for our many activities and projects.
Please do not hesitate to get involved with your neighbors and friends and work with us for the benefit of your community. Our meetings are held at the Recreation Center in Amber on the third Monday of each month. Please join us and become part of the great number dedicated volunteers who have served out community over all the ears and for more to come.
